Creacity, tourism and cultural project
CREACITY: A cross-border project with the support of the cities of Pamplona, Bayonne and Hondarribia.
CREACITY is designed with the aim of creating a cross-border cooperation zone, a virtuous triangle Pamplona/Bayonne/Fuenterrabía, grouping cultural actors and promoting the capacity to develop common proposals in cultural, patrimonial, tourist and gastronomy sectors, favouring a positive impact on the economic development of the area.
The three cities have fortifications and a remarkable history, important goods in tourist terms, as well as challenges for the integration of that heritage in the city of tomorrow. Innovative actions in the field of cultural tourism and artistic creations have been launched to position this cross-border territory as a high quality heritage tourist destination and as a dynamic zone that offers a favorable evolution chart for companies that wish to install within.
This initiative is co-financed at 65% by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), through the Interreg V-A programme POCTEFA 2014-2020 (the Spain-Andorra Operational Programme for cross-border Cooperation).
Four strategic working themes:
Studies have been carried out to reflect on the different possible uses of the walls in the future, so that tourists and people appropriate of these spaces, as well as the restoration of some small parts of the walls.
A cultural program has been proposed in the walls, presenting artistic creations, mutualizing the competencies and the means of the three collaborating cities. This proposal has allowed the artists of the territory to work on innovative artistic projects, combining tradition and modernity.
This action has allowed to create new tools for planning and analysis of the tourism sector, as well as tools to promote the area as a destination of interest, improving access to tourist resources, organizing guided tours and offering a specific training of the tourist guides of the three cities in the patrimony of the other ones; in this way, the creation and development of common tourist products has been promoted, as well as the edition of related informative documentation.
Promotion of gastronomy.
The creative cuisine has also been promoted, based on local quality products, through the organization of events such as fairs, saloons and kitchen chef competitions…
